The Department of Ophthalmology specializes on treating all diseases of the eye. In addition, there are a variety ofspecialty outpatient clinics within the department that specialize on dry eye, the cornea, the retina and premature retinopathy, glaucoma, refractive surgery, strabismus, ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery, the lacrimal duct, allergy, keratoconus and contact lenses, uveitis, low vision, neuro-ophthalmology, and Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Cornea ClinicAs the global leader in the treatment of cornea-related diseases, we developed ocular-surface reconstruction surgery via cultured corneal or oral mucosal epithelial cell sheet transplantation and endothelial-cell infusion therapy for bullous keratopathy.
Dry Eye ClinicAs the world leader in treating dry eye, we developed a non-invasive diagnosis method for dry eye and continually establish groundbreaking therapeutic modalities.
Glaucoma ClinicFor the treatment of glaucoma, we constantly measure and assess the effectiveness of various drugs, and we developed the ‘surgical gonioscope’ and continually adopt the latest leading-edge surgical methods. We perform nearly 300 glaucoma surgeries per year.
- Retina Clinic
For treating retina-related diseases, we utilize non-invasive vitreous surgery aggressively. We perform numerous ‘day’ vitreous surgeries that are both safe and highly effective. In addition, we developed a non-invasive diagnosis method that includes fundus autofluorescence.
Refractive Surgery Clinic, Strabismus Clinic
Each year, we perform numerous LASIK, Epi-LASIK, and Phakic Intraocular Lens implantation surgeries for refractive error. For the treatment of strabismus, prism correction, surgery, and botulinum toxin injection are all performed with great effectiveness.
