Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Our university hospital has one general ICU (6 beds) and one PICU (6 beds) maintained by 7 intensivists. The ICU and PICU are open for any critically ill patients.  We provide highly sophisticated medicine to our patients.

Most of patients admitted to ICU or PICU consist of post operative major surgery such as cardiac or transplantation surgery or critically ill patients due to sepsis, acute respiratory failure, acute pancreatitis and so on. The predicted mortality rate based on APACHE-III (version J) score in ICU shows around 20% recently and actual mortality is about 3 to 5 percent. There is a big need for larger scale ICUs and we are now working on it.
