Department of Blood Transfusion

Division of Transfusion and Cell Medicine provides a wide variety of specific techniques for safe and secure medical cares, including 1) pre-transfusion testing of blood products and their honest-proof conservation, 2) pre-transplant HLA typing, and 3) freeze preservation of hematopoietic stem cells. Furthermore, we consider it extremely important to promote the diffusion of these techniques and knowledges regarding transfusion and/or cellular medicine as an educational institute.

A variety of medical techniques provided by our division include 1) pre-transfusion preparative tests, 2) specific adjustment of the Red Cross blood products, 3) histocompatibility tests including HLA typing for organ transplantations, 4) conservation of blood products for allogeneic and autologous transfusions, 5) harvesting of circulating hematopoietic stem cells and their freeze preservation, and 6) cell manipulations for regenerative tissue engineering.
