Inpatient

Admission Procedures

Report between 8:45 and 10:00 at counter [ 10 ] Admission and Discharge Office. In case of an admittance outside these hours, please report on a weekday between 14:00 and 16:00. Please bring the following.
- Hospital Card 診察券 shinsatsuken
- Insurance Card 保険証 hokenshō
- Letter of Commitment & Guarantee Form 誓約・保証書 hoshōsho

If you are on welfare additional forms might be needed. After you have finished the paperwork, you will receive a pink piece of paper. Please hand it over at the nurse station of the department where you are to be admitted.
If you have been delayed please contact the admission and discharge office, 075-251-5180. If you wish to cancel a planned admission or change the date, please contact your outpatient department.

Necessities during admission

- Items for personal hygiene, toothbrush etc.
- Soap, shampoo, towels
- Pajama’s, underwear, footwear
- Tableware (chopsticks, spoon, fork, cup)
- Medication you are using, dentures, glasses
- If you need them items such as diapers or pads
- Other daily necessities such as tissue paper
Rental Pajama's and towel sets are available. The sets need to be ordered in advance, and are to be paid for by the patient. For more information, please see the following pamphlet (入院セット Japanese).

Hospital Room

Our rooms are for six persons. There is a small fridge, television and safety box at your bedside. Please use the safety box for your valuables. Locking the box does not prevent all theft, therefore we ask you not to bring any large amounts of cash or other valuables with you. You can use the television and fridge with prepaid cards which can be bought in the wards lounge.
If you wish to use a private room, please inform your doctor or nurse. The following types of private rooms are offered.

- Please note that there might not be a room available of your choice. Depending on your situation and that of other patients you might be asked to move to a different room.
- The fee for private rooms is not calculated per night but per day it has been used.
- If the fee is not covered by your insurance, the payment must be made in full on the day of discharge.

During Admission

Meals

Meals are delivered at 8:00, 12:00 and 18:00. Please note that chopsticks, cutlery and beverages are not provided with the meals.

Leaving the hospital

You may only leave the hospital with permission of your doctor. Staying out overnight is only allowed with permission of your doctor and limited to one night. Even if you leave the hospital for a short while, for example if you want to go the Kamo river, you need to notify the ward.

Laundry

All floors have a laundry room. The laundry machine can be used for 150 yen, the drier for 100 yen. Please insert the exact amount into the machine.

Smoking

It is prohibited to smoke anywhere on hospital grounds, also please refrain from smoking near entrances and other places where many people pass.

Public Phone

There is a public phone at the lounge of every floor.

Mobile Phones

The usage of mobile phones can cause disturbance to other patients, therefore please only use mobile phones in designated areas. Such as near the public phones in the lounges, in the elevator hall or near the public phones between the hospital entrance and the emergency room.

Rules

- Please do your best to not cause any nuisance to other patients.
- Do not bring dangerous goods into the hospital.
- Follow the instructions of the staff.

Safety during Admission

During your stay we want you to pay attention to the following for your own safety and that of other patients.
- To prevent infection wash your hands regularly, if necessary wear a mask.
- In order to prevent you from injuring yourself be extra careful; after surgery, bed rest, during and after fever, when you have an IV, tubes, or when you use certain medications.
If you feel uneasy about moving around please call a nurse.
- Please use proper fitting pajamas and footwear.

Service Facilities

Library Hohoemi [ 3F ]

The library for our patients and visitors is open 24 hours. Currently there are only books in Japanese. If you want to donate books to the library, which are in a good state, there is a box at the main exit of the hospital for that purpose.

Café de Crie [ 1F ]

The menu includes soft drinks, pasta and sweets.
Weekdays: 7:00-21:00
Weekend and holidays: 8:00-18:00

Lawson [ 1F ]

This convenience store is open 24-7.

Post Office & Bank [ 1F ]

Post, weekdays: 9:00-17:00
Bank, weekdays: 9:00-16:00
ATM,  weekdays: 9:00-19:00
  weekends and holidays: 9:00-17:00

Lunch-Box Shop [ 1F ]

A large variety of lunch boxes, bread and drinks.
Weekdays: 8:30-16:30

Restaurant Café Frère [ B1 ]

The menu includes set meals, noodles donburi and desserts.
Weekdays: 8:30-16:00
Saturdays: 11:00-14:00
 

Restaurant Kazahana [ 4F ]

Co-op Shop [ B1 ]

This shop has toiletry articles, towels, napkins, diapers and other goods you might need during a hospital stay, food and flowers.
Weekdays: 7:30-19:00
Weekends and holidays: 10:00-15:00

Barber [ B1 ]

Weekdays: 8:30-17:30
Saturdays: 9:00-16:00 (1st Saturday of the month off)

Discharge

Around the day of your discharge, a doctor or nurse will give an explanation about your discharge. On the day of your discharge you will receive your hospital bill (nyūin nōnyū tsūchishō). With your bill go between 8:45 and 17:00 to the (automatic) cashier [ 4 ], or to payment [ 5 ]on the ground floor of the outpatient ward. After you have paid, please show the receipt to a nurse on your ward. If you will be discharged during a national holiday or the weekend, please go for payment to the reception of the Emergency Room[ 13 ].

Admission Fees

- For inpatients the hospital bill is calculated per month.
- Costs for diapers are not covered by insurance, you will have to pay for them by yourself.
If you have a Japanese Health Insurance and are facing high medical costs, you can apply for a Certificate of Eligibility for Ceiling-Amount Application (gendogaku tekiyō ninteishō). Depending on your income you will have a monthly maximum on medical costs. For more information please contact your insurer. In order to use the system you will need to present the certificate upon admission. Please note that costs that are not covered by insurance, such as fees for a private room or diapers, are not covered by the system.
Local governments have medical costs support programs for children, low income families, single parent families, and special needs families. For more information, please ask at counter number 2 on the ground floor of the outpatient hall.
