Content of treatment

Diabetes mellitus

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic disease and it can cause many chronic complications if left untreated for a prolonged period. Chronic complications include diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy, diabetic neuropathy, cardiovascular disease, stroke, foot ulcer and so on. The goals of the treatment of diabetes mellitus are to keep blood sugar levels as close to normal, to prevent or delay the appearance/progression of diabetic complications, decrease mortality and maintain a good quality of life. For these aims, we cooperate with many other specialists (ophthalmologists, nephrologists, neurologists, cardiologists, dermatologists, orthopedists, and so on).

Endocrine disease

We treat the most thyroid diseases in our department now and also treat relatively rare endocrine diseases from adrenal gland, pituitary gland, hypothalamus and parathyroid gland. We make full use of various load tests and/or image diagnosis and try to make an accurate diagnosis. We give drug treatment and/or hormone replacement therapy corresponding to the clinical condition. When surgery and/or radiotherapy are needed, we try to provide curative treatments in cooperation with surgery, neurosurgery, urology, otorhinolaryngology or radiology.
