About Us

Our hospital has a long and rich history with its founding dating back to 1872. Around the time of the Meiji Restoration (1868) there was a call from the people of Kyoto for western medicine to become available. The establishment of a hospital, and training institute for doctors, was sought after. The government could in the turmoil of these years not provide in this wish. Therefore the people took it upon themselves, and with the contributions of shops, temples and individuals a hospital and medical school were founded.

Since our founding it has been our goal to deliver top level care to our region. We have been designated as a central facility for the treatment of cancer. And are one of 15 centers nationwide for the treatment of cancer in children. In addition we have a center for an intergrated approach to dementia. Our hospital and regional care partners team up to give total care for patients with diagnosis, treatment and support in their daily life.

It is our wish to continue in our effort to bring high level care to our region, and foster the good relationship with our local community.
